What is a Motherhood Photographer?

These days it seems that there are lots of lifestyle and family photographers to choose from. Search online and you will likely find dozens of talented part and full time photographers who love to snap photos of families, babies and couples. Hiring a photographer can be tricky. You want to consider your budget, timing and location. You also want to review a photographer’s portfolio. You may not think about it, but you want to find a photographer who specializes in certain aspects of photography. Hiring a landscape photographer who sells gorgeous prints as your wedding photographer may not prove to yield the results you invest in.

When I first started, I knew one thing was clear- I loved taking photos of my daughters. I loved everything about their tiny faces- the details that face away so fast when babies grow into toddlers. But I also knew that my background as a maternal health advocate would come into play. Frankly- I adore motherhood. I love everything about it, even if I haven’t had a chance to shower in 3 days, and I’m exhausted and cranky. It is the best part of me. So I knew I wanted to be a Motherhood photographer, documenting special moments for mothers and of mothers.

Why You Should Hire a Motherhood Photographer

So, what does a Motherhood photographer do? I capture all stages of motherhood. Maternity, adoption ceremonies, foster family sessions, family sessions, newborn and I’m so excited to be venturing into birth photography. Does this mean I won’t shoot your engagement session? No. I’d be honored. But my passion is for mothers at any stage of motherhood. And I am so honored to be able to do what I love with clients who share my vision.
